Ana Isabel Sánchez Cortes

Entrance Exam Aspirant · IPEP Jaén

Going back to study after many years is not just opening a book again. It is confronting fears, doubts, and that voice that often makes us think it is already too late.

For a long time I thought the exact same thing; I let pass several years of my life, not feeling capable of achieving it due to the various responsibilities I had, and the truth is, I never saw the right moment. That was until I decided to take a step that changed my life. Tired of working poorly in places where I was not happy—precarious jobs that did not let me move forward—I decided to prepare for the higher vocational training entrance exam.

It has not been easy. I had to balance hours of study with work and caring for my mother, who is highly dependent. Many times I studied tired, without time, and without strength, but even so, I kept going because I knew I was doing it for myself, for my future, and to prove to myself that I could still do it and show what I am capable of.

"There were moments when I thought of giving up. Moments of stress, insecurity, and feeling that I would never get there."

But I also discovered something very important: the amazing ability we women have to hold everything together, even when we think we can't take any more. I learned that daily effort, even if small, eventually brings results. That it is never too late to start over. And that studying has no age.

Furthermore, I want to make a special mention of Don Manuel. Thanks to him, I passed the subject that scared me the most—not with an outstanding grade, but with a 7, and I am super happy to have achieved it. It was a wonderful learning experience alongside him because, thanks to his way of conveying and facilitating the lessons, he made you feel capable of achieving it.

Today, I look back and feel proud of myself. Not only for resuming my studies, but for the entire journey to get here. Because behind every studied topic, there was sacrifice, sleepless nights, and a strong desire to improve.

I want to share my story to encourage other women who might be going through the same thing. Women who work, who take care of their family, who have left their dreams parked for years, and who think they can no longer try again. Yes, you can. Even if it is hard. Even if it is scary. Even if the path is slow.

It is never too late to fight for yourself. It is never too late to learn, grow, and build a new opportunity. Sometimes, you just need to take the first step and believe, even if only a little, that we are capable.

And yes, we can. Thank you, Manuel.

COGNITIVE RESILIENCE

Ana Isabel's multitasking caretaker brain, far from limiting her, activated a neuro-psychological mechanism known as "executive cognitive reserve". Channeling controlled stress towards a targeted personal goal reconfigures prefrontal cortex connectivity, facilitating peak intellectual performance even in states of severe exhaustion.

Neurodidactics & Affective Unlocking

At NeuroEnglish for you!, we focus on lowering the emotional filter of the amygdala. When students feel safe, understood, and validated, the prefrontal cortex opens up to high-retention learning. Earning a 7 in English after years away from study is not magic: it's science applied in the classroom.
