Spain’s wine map is also a map of careers. Behind every harvest, bottle and tasting room, there are growers, laboratory technicians, cellar workers, export managers, guides and sommeliers. They need science, technology, hospitality—and languages.

In this learning journey, you will move from the vineyard to the winery, and from Spanish VET to a possible Erasmus+ placement. You will learn to describe wine responsibly, understand production, solve workplace situations and introduce yourself to a European employer.

Your first morning at a Bordeaux château

Cellar master: Welcome, Alex. Before we start, could you tell me about your training?

Alex: Certainly. I am studying Viticulture in Spain. I have practised quality control, sensory analysis and basic cellar operations.

Cellar master: Good. This morning we are checking a batch that is fermenting in stainless steel tanks. What would you monitor?

Alex: I would monitor temperature, density and hygiene, record the results and immediately report any deviation.

Cellar master: Excellent. Safety first. If you are unsure, ask before acting.

Shadowing: listen to one line, pause, copy its rhythm, then record yourself on your phone. Comparing—not perfection—builds awareness.

Bienvenido a tu primera semana de formación en la empresa. Durante los primeros días trabajarás con el equipo de administración y observarás cómo se registran facturas, se organizan documentos y se responde a clientes y proveedores. No se espera que lo sepas todo desde el primer momento. Lo más importante es que preguntes cuando tengas dudas, tomes notas y respetes los procedimientos de la empresa. Tu tutora te explicará el uso básico del programa de gestión y te asignará tareas progresivas. Al principio comprobarás datos sencillos y archivarás documentación. Más adelante podrás preparar borradores de correos, actualizar hojas de cálculo y colaborar en el seguimiento de pagos. Antes de enviar cualquier documento al exterior, deberás pedir una revisión. La puntualidad, la confidencialidad y la comunicación profesional son esenciales. Si cometes un error, informa cuanto antes en lugar de ocultarlo. Los errores pequeños se corrigen con facilidad cuando se detectan pronto. También conviene que anotes el vocabulario profesional nuevo y que prepares una breve reflexión al final de cada semana sobre lo que has aprendido. Recuerda que la FP Dual no consiste únicamente en estar físicamente en una empresa: se trata de conectar lo aprendido en clase con situaciones reales de trabajo. Si aprovechas las observaciones, pides retroalimentación y muestras iniciativa, la experiencia puede ayudarte a desarrollar competencias y a descubrir qué tipo de puesto profesional encaja mejor contigo.
