TOTAL GUIDE Logic of Pronouns

Me, My, Mine, Myself... Stop the chaos! Understand the 5 columns of English power.

The Table of Power

El inglés es muy rígido. A diferencia del español (donde el sujeto a veces se esconde), en inglés cada columna tiene una función única. No puedes mezclarlas.

The 5 Logics Explained

Subject Pronouns

El Protagonista. Realiza la acción. SIEMPRE va antes del verbo.

[SUBJECT] + Verbo

Ex: She loves pizza.

Object Pronouns

El Receptor. Recibe la acción. Va DESPUÉS del verbo o de una preposición (for, to, with...).

Verbo/Prep + [OBJECT]

Ex: Call him. / Come with me.

Possessive Adj.

El Guardaespaldas. Indica posesión pero es tímido: NUNCA va solo. Necesita un sustantivo detrás.

[POSS. ADJ] + Sustantivo

Ex: This is my car.

Possessive Pro.

El Solitario. Indica posesión y es fuerte: va SOLO. Sustituye al sustantivo (para no repetir).

It is [POSS. PRO]

Ex: The car is mine.

Reflexive

El Espejo. La acción rebota. El sujeto y el objeto son la misma persona.

Subject == Object

Ex: I cut myself.

The Danger Zone: 3 Fatal Errors

These mistakes are very common in Selectividad. Avoid them!

1. Its vs It's

Possessives never use an apostrophe.

The dog ate it's food. The dog ate its food.

2. Subject or Object?

The subject performs the action.

Me and Tom went out. Tom and I went out.

3. The "S" Trap

"Mine" is unique. Never add an S.

That bag is mines. That bag is mine.

THE LOGIC GAZETTE

The Indefinite Matrix

Weather: Clear Minds Topic: Indefinite Offspring Language: Master Level

The 4 Laws of Identity

Indefinite pronouns are the building blocks of quantity and identity. To master them, you must understand these immutable laws of English logic.

Law 1: The Singular Bond

No matter how many people you talk about, indefinites are grammatically singular.
"Everyone IS happy" (Not 'are').

Law 2: No Double Shadows

English logic forbids double negatives.
"I have nothing" OR "I don't have anything".

Law 3: The Offer Exception

Usually, we use Any for questions. However, if you are offering or requesting something, use Some.
"Would you like something?"

Law 4: Formal Nuance

Suffixes -one and -body are interchangeable. Note that -one is slightly more formal and preferred in writing.

The 3-Second Logic Flow

Is it Affirmative? (+)

Use SOME-

Is it Negative or Question? (-/?)

Use ANY-

Verb (+) but meaning is ZERO (0)?

Use NO-

The Magic Word: ELSE

If you want to say "other" or "more" with an indefinite, place ELSE immediately after it.

Somebody ELSE"Is there somebody else here?"
Nothing ELSE"I need nothing else, thanks."
Somewhere ELSE"Let's go somewhere else, it's too crowded."
Everyone ELSE"Everyone else has already left."
Anyone ELSE?"Does anyone else want coffee?"
Everything ELSE"Forget everything else and focus."

The Order Logic

"Is there anything else you would like to order?"

Crucial Exam Structure

The "Free Choice" Paradox

In AFFIRMATIVE sentences, ANY- expresses total freedom. It translates as "Cualquiera".

ANYONE

"Anyone can solve this puzzle."

ANYWHERE

"You can sit anywhere you like."

ANYTIME

"Call me anytime, I am free."

ANYTHING

"I will do anything for you."
