1. THE CORE RULE

Is there a NOUN at the end of the phrase? ¿Hay un sustantivo al final del bloque?

Structure: NOUN + BE + SO + ADJECTIVE

Structure: PRONOUN + BE + SUCH + (A/AN) + ADJ + NOUN

Cómo usar 'so' y 'such' en inglés II.

 Buenas tardes, estimados alumnos.

Vamos a repasar otra vez cómo se usan estas dos palabras que tanto se usan en inglés: 'so' y 'such', pero de una manera más sencilla todavía.

1)    My student Maria del Mar is such a hardworking student that she is improving a lot this year.

 

Mi alumna MM es una mujer tan trabajadora que está mejorando mucho este año.

2)    My student Maria Del Mar is so hardworking that she is improving a lot this year:

Mi alumna MM es tan trabajadora que está mejorando mucho este año.

3)    Sevilla is such a beautiful city that I wish I could live one day.

Sevilla es una ciudad tan bonita que ojalá pudiera vivir en ella algún día.

Resumiendo:

 

1) Significan lo mismo, puesto que se usan para lo mismo: para enfatizar que algo o alguien es muy.... lo que sea, o tan.... que me lo como.

 

2) such a + un adjetivo + un sustantivo, siempre.

 

such a hardworking student that...

such a beautiful city that...

such a wonderful monument...

 

3) so + adjetivo pero sin sustantivo delante.

 

so hardworking that...

so beautiful that...

so wonderful that
