The Logic of
Inversion
It looks like a question, but it's not. Use "The Question Disguise" to add drama and emphasis to your writing. Parece una pregunta, pero no lo es. Usa "El Disfraz de Pregunta" para añadir drama y énfasis.
"I have never seen such beauty."
Subject + Aux + Verb
"Never have I seen such beauty."
Trigger + Aux + Subject + Verb
Nunca he visto tal belleza.The "Red Triggers"
If you start a sentence with a Negative Adverb, you MUST invert. Si empiezas con un adverbio negativo, DEBES invertir.
NEVER / RARELY
Frequency negatives.
"Rarely do we see this."
NOT ONLY...
Adding emphasis.
"Not only is he rich..."
NO SOONER...
Immediate past action.
"No sooner had I arrived..."
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES
Strong prohibition.
"...should you open it."
ONLY THEN...
Limiting the time.
"Only then did I understand."
LITTLE...
Negative knowledge.
"Little did he know..."
Conditional Inversion (Removing IF)
Make your conditionals formal by deleting "IF" and inverting. Haz tus condicionales formales borrando "IF" e invirtiendo.
If you should need help...
"Should you need help..."
Si necesitas ayuda... (Muy formal).If I were you...
"Were I you..."
Si yo fuera tú...If I had known...
"Had I known..."
