The Logic of Reported Speech Domina el estilo indirecto

The Logic of Reported Speech | PAGS Unit
PAGS Level 3/4 Preparation

The Logic of
Reported Speech

DIRECT SPEECH "I study here." NOW & HERE REPORTED SPEECH He said he studied there. THEN & THERE
Neuro-Objective: Understanding Distance
Phase 1

The Logic of "Time Travel"

Neuro Tip: The Distance Rule

  • Person: I → He/She (Me alejo de mí mismo)
  • Place: Here → There (Me alejo del lugar)
  • Time: Now → Then / Present → Past (Me alejo en el tiempo)

Interactive: The Backshift Effect

Present
"I study nursing"
Past
He said he studied nursing
